One of the most important aspects about having orthodontic work is getting the right treatment for your teeth. Here at Anglia Orthodontics we ensure your treatment is unique to your needs.
The purpose of your first visit to us here at Anglia Orthodontics, is for us to have the opportunity to examine your face, mouth and teeth to determine what extent of orthodontic treatment you could benefit from. As part of this assessment, we’ll use the latest in scanning technology to take a 3D scan of your teeth. These scans give us a record of where your teeth are currently positioned, and how much movement is required to achieve the desired position we want them to sit in for that winning smile you’ve come to us for! No actual treatment is carried out during your first visit, but it does give you an opportunity to understand more about the treatments we offer and to ask any questions you have about orthodontics. This will help you to make an informed decision as to whether you’d like to proceed with treatment. If you would, we’ll book a follow-up appointment for you during which we’ll create a detailed treatment plan that will outline what treatment we recommend, how long it will take and how much it will cost.
Straight teeth with Invisalign: If you have decided to proceed with treatment and chosen Invisalign aligners as your preferred treatment method, we’ll scan your teeth using our state-of-the-art IntraOral digital scanner to get impressions of your teeth from which your custom-made aligners can be made. This appointment takes approximately one hour.
At your following appointment we will show you your individualised movies and order your aligners. This is a short 30-minute appointment. At each of your appointments, you are able to ask as many questions as you wish. There are two more appointments: one to fit your aligners (20 minutes), during which your orthodontist will explain the care required for your aligners, and one to fit any attachments (45 minutes) if necessary.
Fixed braces: At this appointment your teeth are gently cleaned before the braces are fixed to your teeth using the latest adhesive available. This process is completely safe and will not damage or mark your teeth. The archwire is then placed into the brackets. No drilling or injections are involved in this process and the appointment should take between 30 and 60 minutes. We will then give you a comprehensive aftercare guide so you know exactly how to look after and care for your new braces.
The length of time orthodontic treatment takes depends on the method chosen and the severity of the case. On average, treatment usually takes between 12 to 18 months to complete; however, some complicated cases may require slightly longer to produce the best results. Your orthodontist will inform you about the treatment period on your first visit.
Cooperation from you, the patient, and parents for children’s orthodontic treatment, is vital for a successful outcome. You will need to follow the aftercare guidelines, look after your teeth as instructed and continue to see your general dentist.
