Important message: Coronavirus
Dear Patients,
Government Clarification in healthcare settings: "Face coverings and social distancing measures will remain in place across healthcare settings so that the most vulnerable people can continue to safely attend healthcare settings for advice, care and treatment. And it is important for the public to continue to play their part when visiting NHS and care settings to help protect our staff and patients, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to infections."
When visiting a dentist face coverings, social distancing and hand washing remain fundamentals, not optional extras. Wider changes that take place on Monday will have no impact on how the public should approach accessing our services." British Dental Association.
As a practice we will continue to safeguard our staff and patients.
- Please do not attend our practice if you have any respiratory symptoms, Covid19 symptoms, a positive PCR or lateral flow test or have been asked to self-isolate.
- Please wear a mask when attending our practice and respect our environment.
- We continue to ask that only the patient attends their appointment, unless under 16 years. If it is impossible to attend with only your child that is the patient, please wait outside on our path until you are called for the appointment and are taken directly into the surgery. Please come prepared for all weathers. Please keep small children on your knees.
- Please come prepared with clean teeth, we cannot permit the cleaning of teeth in our bathroom facilities.
- Please observe 2 metre social distancing.
Our staff are working hard to provide a continuous service. Please help us to provide this for you and please try not to intimidate them with challenging behaviour when you are asked to respect our wishes.

Preparing you for orthodontic treatment
At Anglia Orthodontics, we set out to straighten your teeth and to give you the confidence to smile without feeling self-conscious. We do this by carefully analysing your teeth to see which type of orthodontic appliance you could benefit from.
In some instances, you could benefit from initial treatment with the Carriere Appliance. This is what is known as a motion appliance and it’s designed to start moving your teeth to prepare them for orthodontic treatment. It also has the added benefit of reducing your overall treatment time.
What is the Carriere Appliance?
The Carriere Appliance is a small correction appliance which is fitted to the side of your teeth. Extremely discreet and comfortable to wear, it works with small elastic bands to apply pressure to your teeth to guide them into position. This appliance helps with the preliminary movement of your teeth, setting them up to receive more complex orthodontic treatment with appliances such as Invisalign aligners or traditional metal braces.
Who can wear the Carriere Appliance?
The Carriere Appliance is a great first appliance for many of our younger patients. Small and comfortable in the mouth, it can get them used to wearing an appliance and what’s involved in the process of orthodontic treatment. It is also an effective appliance for our adult patients.
Benefits of the Carriere Appliance
There are many benefits to having the Carriere Appliance fitted as your first appliance. These include:
- Easy appliance to wear with no cheek or lip irritation
- Small and discreet in the mouth so no-one will notice you’re wearing it
- Doesn’t affect your speech
- It’s still easy to brush and clean your teeth, keeping up your oral hygiene routine
- It reduces the amount of time you need to wear braces or Invisalign aligners for later on.
